International Awareness & Involvement
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. wants to extend our reach from the United States to the global community. For this to occur, Bay Area Houston Alumnae’s (BAHA) International Awareness and Involvement Committee (IAIC) commits to implementing activities that:
- Broaden knowledge and understanding of nations other than our own,
- Increase interest in international affairs, and
- Aid in developing an appreciation for the plight of people from different backgrounds and cultures.

INTERNATIONAL BOOK DRIVE
During the 2017-18 sorority year, the IAIC brought service to the children of Africa through connected, passionate chapter members. BAHA established a relationship with Mwangaza Visionary School and Emmanuel School in Kenya by providing over 400 storybooks for students in grades K- 8th. The committee also supplied Tower Christian School, in Sierra Leone, with over 70 backpacks, including school supplies. The committee shared local, regional, and national information and statistics in recognition of World AIDS Day and spotlighted incredible women from around the world on International Women’s Day.
