Program Name: Voter Registration Drive

Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. is non-partisan in nature and purpose, with the general focus on those issues that greatly impact the African American community. The purpose of the Voter Registration Drive is to register voters and provide critical information on eligibility guidelines, polling locations, and early voting.

As a direct result of BAHA’s efforts, over 200 citizens have been registered as part of Houston’s City Wide Voter Registration Drive on September 11 and through participation in Delta Red Army on October 30.

This collaborative event, in its third year, is held annually during the months of September and October with the Houston Area Urban League Young Professionals.

Delta Days in the Nation's Capital
In 1989 the National Social Action Commission instituted "Delta Days in the Nation's Capital", an annual two and a half-day legislative conference held in Washington , DC . It is designed to foster expanded involvement of chapters and members in social and public policy issues. BAHA, since it’s chartering in 2006, has maintained a constant presence at the annual Delta Days.

Peer-to-Peer Youth Community Program
Bay Area Houston Alumnae has established a community participation program for youth ages 11-18. Peer-to-Peer is intended to educate youth on the government workings, the affects on their lives; and to promote increased interest in the voting process and all forms of political activity. The program includes guest speakers, participation in political campaigns, and community projects. Peer-to-Peer provides a medium for youth to earn community service points while having fun. Meetings are held monthly.
